Daisies

Babies, 3 months to 14 months

Inside Heaton Lodge Children's Nursery, Wortley, Leeds

Bright and airy. A cosy home-from-home feel.

Daisies is our baby room. Ratio 1:3. Every baby has a key person, allocated either by the child or for other reasons (such as additional needs). Mealtimes are managed carefully, considering each baby’s ability to sit and feed themselves. All bottles are sterilised; formula is made fresh each feed; breast milk is labelled and stored in the fridge.

Sensory exploration

Sensory play through textures, sounds, tastes and sights. Messy play with safe, edible materials. Babies are encouraged to recognise pictures, animals and people. Soft play apparatus supports large motor movements: sitting unaided, crawling, walking.

Your baby’s rhythm comes first
Sleep and feed routines follow your home pattern, not a nursery timetable. Your key person learns what soothes your baby and how to settle them as you do.
Sensory, responsive, unhurried
Babies feel safe, secure and welcomed. We want every baby to attach to their key person, feel happy in nursery, and express their needs to be cuddled or soothed.
