Our rooms

Four rooms, one continuous story

Inside Heaton Lodge Children's Nursery, Wortley, Leeds

From 3 months to school-ready, a dedicated space for every stage

Each room is led by a key person who knows your child inside out. Ratios are kept above statutory minimums. Children move on when they are ready, not on a fixed birthday.

Small moves, big confidence

Progression is gentle. Your child moves to the next room when they are ready, after visits with the new key person. The handover is staged across several settling sessions.

The team at Heaton Lodge Children's Nursery, Wortley

The EYFS curriculum runs through every room but looks different at every age. In Daisies it’s sensory and relational. In Poppies it’s preparing for school: phonics, early maths, collaboration. ‘Play with a Purpose’ underpins all of it.

Our room philosophy

One key person per child. Above-statutory ratios. Continuous outdoor access.

Daisies (3 months – 14 months)

Ratio 1:3. Our baby room. Bright and airy with a cosy home-from-home feel. Sensory play, soft play, songs and rhymes.

Daffodils (14 months – 2 years)

Ratio 1:3. Walking, talking, choosing. Self-help skills, story time, sensory and messy play.

Buttercups & Blossoms (2 – 3 years)

Ratio 1:4. Set over 2 rooms that open as one. Maths, Literacy, Understanding the world, Expressive arts. Toilet training and circle time.

Poppies (3 years to school)

Ratio 1:8. Our preschool. 2 large rooms. Little Kicks once a week, dance once a week. Preparing for school.

The key-person approach
Every child has a named key person who knows their routines, their preferences, and their day. Parents always know who to ask.
Settling in gently
We move at your child’s pace. First visits are short, supported, and led by you. We’ll stretch the settling period as long as your child needs.
